DiiA – the global DALI alliance
The Digital Illumination Interface Alliance (DiiA) is an open, global consortium of lighting companies that aims to grow the market for lighting-control solutions based on the standardized Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) protocol. DALI enables robust, bi-directional, digital communication between lighting-control devices.
DiiA was established in response to industry requests for an independently-verified certification program that covers the functionality specified in DALI-2, the latest version of the DALI protocol. DALI-2 product certification by DiiA brings the promise of significantly improved cross-vendor interoperability and additional functionality compared older DALI systems. DALI-2 standardization now extends to all devices in a lighting-control system, including sensors, other input devices, and application controllers, as well as control gear such as LED drivers.
DiiA continues to add more features and functions to the DALI-2 certification program. The D4i specifications, written by DiiA, are focused on intra-luminaire DALI, and specify how DALI drivers can report operational, diagnostic and luminaire-specific information in a standardized format. D4i also simplifies the addition of sensors or communication nodes to a luminaire.
