Klaus Vamberszky was born in St. Pölten in 1961. He graduated in mechanical and process engineering from the Technical University of Vienna and subsequently began his career as a luminaire designer at Zumtobel Licht GmbH on June 3 rd 1985. Since then, Mr Vamberszky has held various positions in the area of research, development and marketing within the Zumtobel Group and took up his appointment as EVP Technology for the Zumtobel Group on October 1 st 2009.
Lighting Industry Quo Vadis
Over the last years the lighting industry showed significant growth fueled by the conversion of conventional installations to LED, financing the refurbishment by the energy savings due to the highly efficient new solid state light source. But this growth engine will come to an end, both in terms of physics as well as timewise: In the years to come the efficiency gain will flatten out, and more and more longlasting LED installations will already cover the field. How can new, mainly digital business models compensate this decline? What is important in terms of company strategy and selection of projects?
