Markus Römer is the manager of application and systems engineering at Inova Semiconductors. Inova Semiconductors develops, manufactures and sells semiconductors for Digital High Speed serial links at several Gbps over copper cable. During his career, Markus Römer has gained a wide experience in system architectures and the requirements to make a customer application robust and reliable. Since November 2016 he also is responsible for the new product segment “Digital LED” at Inova Semiconductors.
Smart RGB LED Concept for Automotive Lighting Applications
LEDs are revolutionizing the way we lighting our world, including our cars. LEDs are already used for front- and backlight and various implementations of ambient light are available in premium cars. With autonomous driving on the horizon, we anticipate that the ambient lightning inside the car will be enhanced with informative, alerting or even passenger driven effects.
These new effects require new LED technologies and concepts to create light scenarios inside the car, depending on vehicle situation or on passenger activity. Current ambient light concepts are based on standard LEDs connected through simple bus systems with high effort on calibration and communication.
This paper discusses a smart RGB LED system solution for a highly controllable LED concept allowing the implementation of dynamic lighting effects at minimum effort in software and hardware.
